ABOUT
BEHIND THE LENS
My first camera was a Kodak Instamatic, the kind with a blue bulb flash on top. No zoom and a lens big enough to capture the subject and everything else within a wide range, it was for some time a great source of joy. I can't remember just how many photos of my childhood dog, or my pet Kangaroo I took, but I'm sure my mother complained about the processing costs. Growing up in Australia made me keenly aware that there were just so many things to photograph. Many years and cameras later, I took a photographic course at Foothill College in California, under the wise guidance of Marion Patterson. Marion was Ansel Adams last student. It was Marion's gracious attitude toward her students that led to her sharing many interesting photographic insights she had learnt from Adams. Only then did I realize how much photography was a part of me.Years passed and I relocated several times between the US and Australia. By now my husband and I had 3 children and it seemed incredibly difficult for us to ever take a family photo. There was always someone who didn't want to be in the photo, or they were sick, or numerous other reasons. So, after years of playing with photography and thinking about being a photographer, I decided it was high time I started acting like one. I started CMP in 2008 because it is what I love to do. The digital world allows me to capture those special moments in life and bring to clients what they may otherwise have missed - the opportunity to capture their memories in a relaxed atmosphere. No more stressing over what, or who, is missing. No more stressing over how to get to a studio on time or how incredibly difficult it is to get organized to go out with a baby, let alone attend a photo shoot with your family. Phew! What I can give to my clients is a stress free, unhurried photo session in your own environment. Every photo I take gets assessed for those little obscurities that can lead your eye away from the importance of the photo - blemishes, background interference, stains & more are all given their marching orders. No more worrying about Timmy who just spilled juice over his best pants or Naomi who hasn't stopped sniffling for the past 2 days. Photo retouching is my fave.Of course I would be equally as passionate photographing a beautiful wedding, business headshots, or your work space for an advertisement, real estate listing or website. Preserve your Moments In Time - I'd love to help you get started.Susan
